About
Who we are:
Becoming Well Within Minnesota, www.becomingwell.org, is designed to provide integrative healing and other resources for Minnesota patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. The site was developed by staff, volunteers and consultants for Well Within, a nonprofit holistic healing center located in West St. Paul, Minnesota (see www.wellwithin.org). Co-founders Pat Walsh, an artist and healing coach, and Mary Treacy O’Keefe, M.A., executive director, opened Well Within in July, 2004. Our medical advisor, Bill Manahan, M.D. is a member of Well Within’s Board of Directors.
What We Do:
“Well Within’s mission is to assist and encourage people who live with, help others live with, or have survived serious health crises, regardless of their ability to pay.”
At our warm and welcoming office in West St. Paul, MN, Well Within offers a variety of integrative healing resources, at reasonable rates with scholarships available. Services include support groups, spiritual direction, cancer guide and other counseling, and complementary therapies including Healing Touch, Reiki, acupuncture and much more. As a resource center, we also provide information about clinics, hospitals, and other providers who offer various programs and services designed to complement conventional medical care.
Our objectives are:
- To assist and encourage people in the midst of health challenges to seek wellness and balance in their lives
- To encourage and empower Minnesotans to participate with their physicians in their own health care
- To offer a variety of classes, support groups, and other integrative healing experiences that strengthen immune systems, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance the body’s innate ability to heal
- To collaborate with medical, spiritual, and complementary and alternative (CAM) providers in promoting the benefits of mind, body, spirit healing.
Why www.becomingwell.org Was Created:
This website enables us to further achieve our mission by providing information about other community resources that foster overall wellness and healing in the Twin Cities, and eventually, throughout Minnesota. Thanks to a Community Investment Grant from Medica and Speaking of Women’s Health®, we hope this website will help people make informed decisions about their own health, well being and safety.
